Sick in Mexico

Ok, now this may sound like asking for pity: I am kind of sick again. Coughing and stuff. Nothing bad. Just that — again, this has happened before — I have no idea where it is coming from. At no point did I run around in wet clothes for extended periods of time or something similarly stupid. As I said, it’s not so bad but I am already fearing a possible doctor’s visit. While the free doctor’s service my university here offers for exchange students is certainly awesome, conversations with them go usually something like this:

Me: I am feeling sick but I have no idea where it is coming from.

Doctor: So what do you have?

Me: My head hurts, I have a fever and feel generally really shitty.

Doctor: Well, anyhow, I will just give you some pain medication and antibiotics. That should take care of it.

Me: So, what do I have?

Doctor: Don’t know, I guess something from a sudden change of temperature or something. Anyhow, whatever it is, I guess the antibiotics will take care of it.

Me: Huh? (Feeling intimidated and not knowing enough Spanish to respond.) Ok, I guess.

Then again, if he explained to me what I have in Spanish it probably wouldn’t be any more useful. Still, it kind of freaks me out if the answer to every possible disease is antibiotics and pain medication (ok, that only if you say something hurts).

Update: Got worse, went to the doctor, got antibiotics.
